“Power without
responsibility -- the prerogative of the harlot throughout the ages." - Stanley
Baldwin
Media is often
termed as fourth estate of democracy. First estate-Indian judiciary can be
compared to Dharmaraja of India, can’t
accuse it of anything at least as of now. Though two other estates viz.
legislative and executive have less faith, they sustain. Periodical elections
have at least partial command of people over them. What about fourth estate?
Who controls it? Please don’t say BSA or PCI.They are Manmohan singh of media.
With great power
comes responsibility. It is applicable to every field. A general have more
powers compared to a major. But each step a general takes is very crucial that
sometimes it determines the history one can make. We do have historical
evidences of it like Dara Shikoh dismounting elephant etc. What happens if
general misuses the power? We need an external force strong enough to decimate
him like Jasmine revolution.
No one disagree
with the power media possess especially in India. What about the responsibilities
of it? BBC says there are more than 70k newspapers and 500+ channels in
India in Jan-2012. India is the biggest newspaper market in the world with over
100 million copies sold each day1. So a news paper’s report will
have a considerable influence on Indian population. But if a report is
published only to increase its circulation at expense of our country’s
reputation what is the jasmine revolution of it?
One such example
is this report in The Times
of India. It states that some idiot junior officer (R.V.S. Mani) of home
ministry accuses IPS officer of stating that Indian government is behind
attacks of 26/11 and parliament. Even a 4th standard student knows who
is responsible for 26/11. But our idiot Mani (actually I’m decreasing the value
of idiot by calling him that) doesn’t know that. That document got LEAKED. Recently
many documents of CBI/Home ministry are getting leaked to such extent that RTI
is feeling ashamed. Citing report of Times
of India every newspaper in Pakistan quoted that India is behind attacks. The Hindu explained it very clearly here
No one in India knows about it because our MSM (Main Stream Media) doesn’t
report it. What should be the responsibility of Times of India-the largest circulating daily in India possess? It
didn’t even check the credibility of report and published it. Times of India behaved like Dusyasana humiliating Draupadi (India)
Coming to our
24x7 media channels, they always monger about Modi. Don’t know what their
obsession with him is. They hold debates about secularism every night that people
hear more about secularism than our Indian constitution. 23 children died due
to poisoning of the food. The cause is not established yet, but our media frame
stories that Satyajit ray (thank god he left us) will envy of. I personally saw
Times Now scrolling about a snake in food for some time that night. “Snake”-Seriously...?? That snake story
is from Ajmer, don’t know since when Ajmer has been part of Bihar! They stopped
it later though. Seems like it didn’t get its lesson correct through 100cr
lawsuit2.
Meanwhile NDTV
is showing “MIDDAY MURDER” zooming in and out. Already enrollment in our government
schools is less than our industrial growth. If people see these sorts of murder
stories, they’ll never send their children to school. Is it good for our
country? Reporting of such grave incident is necessary, but just keep nation’s
interest in place first. These are reputed English media channels’ ideology, think
about our regional channels. They aren’t eligible for a reference anywhere.
After Delhi rape
incident the amount of reporting about rapes skyrocketed. If media continuously
scroll about an attack on foreign national in font of Anant Ambani is simply
disgusting. If some Briton sees it continuously, he’ll be under impression that
India is never a safe place for outsiders. Should we allow it? In other incident
news channels are showing one acid victim’s photograph having a black line
segment on eyes in slow motion (like
introduction of hero in our movies). Can’t these idiots have any mercy for her?
People in whole India may not know her but how about her relatives/parents? Don’t
they feel embarrassed? If someone pours acid on Bharka dutt will NDTV show her
photos and videos having a black sensor on her eyes?
Media
traditionally have much respect in democratic society, but please don’t misuse
it and show whatever nonsense your sub-editors give to you. Have nation’s
interest in mind always. Please don’t become the "harlot" that Baldwin mentioned and DON’T
MURDER INDIA.
